Looking for advice lads.I'm about to upgrade my satellite meter to HD one. In my price range theres only Satlook micro HD by Emitor, has anybody got any experince with it??Theres no info at the web so far but heard a lot of bad feedbacks about micro+ G2, bad batteries, not really realiable, which is weird since emitor is a serious swedish manufacturer. All advices are really welcome

seems like nobody use the one, ok, any owners of satlook micro(+ or G2)???All of these virtually the same,I mean use the same batteries. So the q is,theres been lot of rumors of bad batteries for these under low temp condition, can anyone confirm that?Found Horizon HD S2 in the same price range, has anyone experienced with both makes to compare???Really appreciate any opinion and inputs, thanks.

I use a G2, and I have to say it is a very flexible and simple to use meter. Never had any trouble with it in two years.
The NIT is a good back up to double check each transponder for content.
Battery life is poor until it has been fully recharged a few times and then it is very good.
I would buy the Micro HD if i were still trading, but the G2 will spot DVB-S2 transponders but can't store them, so I don't have any problems finding HD transponders.
I would recommend the Satlook on my own experience, subjective as it is.

Thanks for your input excollier. Considering that fact last two winters was extremely cold, just wonder how it behaves in low temperature condition???Lot of talks that battery could let you down if temperature +5 or below.Yes NIT is the feature that makes me thinking towards buying satlook but horizon. Satlook's display larger, more informative to me. And how could G2 detect DVBS-2 transponders being DVBS meter only??By spectrum pattern??And is there in G2 short circuit protection??I mean could i safely to take off to put on F-connector as meter is on???

I had no problems last winter, but I didn't use it much in the really cold weather, it was difficult enough just getting out of my own yard.
The G2 doesn't " recognise" DVB-S2 transponders as such. You just use Kingofsat.net and check the transponders that are S2. The spectrum trace will show a peak at that frequency, but the NIT wont identify it. All the same, if you locate a DVB-S transponder on the same sat, you can peak the dish using the S2 spectrum trace.
I used it to align a dish for TV2 HD Norway on 0.8w a few weeks ago, by using 10747H transponder and no more than that.
Having said all that, I woul go for the Micro HD if I were you, but I am biased to th Emitor.
I am sure the Horizon is equally good.

I have a Satlook Micro (Not the G2 although with G2 firmware on it) myself which I bought a few years ago when I was more into the satellite hobby, then I got broadband and started to use satellites less and less, my motorised dish got blown off course in February by winds and I still haven't bothered to re-align it so I must charge this thing up and try it out again.

I have a 1 metre motorised dish that I installed myself with a diseqc motor, however I plan to remove the motor and use the dish for Saorsat reception on Ka-Sat at 9e and my digital saorview signal is poor, I have a seperate Sky dish for astra 28 and plan to use a diseqc switch with my Technomate box so I can have the Saor/Freesat stations all together.

What would be a good Meter for Saorsat or would my Satlook do it? Because if I have to get in someone to align the Ka-Sat I'd just buy a new meter and do it myself as knowing my luck another storm would misalign it.

Anybody know is there like a univeral meter that would be capable of Saorsat (KA), Normal KU, and DVB-T for Saorview?

in your case you need a combo one but them are in region of 1k which is way dear for hobby, if for Ka, but not T horizon HD S2 might help

Yeah, I was thinking something like that, I bought the Micro back in 2007 for something like £200 sterling and whilst even this was dear for the hobby it was pretty cool messing around and getting stations from the far eastern satellites from Russia and Kazakstan, very handy for the world cup last year too in that I could watch the all games in HD even when ITV and BBC were not showing them, M2 of Hungary I think showed the matches of lesser importance when there was a clash wheras ITV2 showed it but only in SD.

I used to receive stations from Turksat at 42.0°E and from Express AM22 at 53.0°E with a few stations from Central Asia on the Express AM22, however when it would be raining I would lose signal on 53.0E.
