non hd box can you watch hd channels?

    You won't be able to watch them, but not sure how this will show up on your menu.

    They might show up but give a 'Cannot display this channel' type message when selected.


    If you could, would there be any need for HD boxes?

    They show up on an SD box I have here - no display.

    Not if they use either DVB-S2 or AAC audio.

    Basically No.

    Forget about even tuning the channels when they are on DVB-S2 on an SD box.

    You might as well try to play BluRay discs on a DVD player.
