lumen posted a link to the phillips led bike light a few weeks ago.

it's meant to be very good.

it's on bike24 as well, 99eur. thinking of investing in one myself.

might be worth stretching the budget a bit for it!

I think (I'm not well up on luminosity units) that the 540 gives out 4000 candela and the 530, which I have, gives out 2200. The 530 can be used for a cautious cycle on an unlit road. Maybe the extra output makes the 540 much better suited.

But there is a very long thread that gives plenty of other options.

(Is the 540 a new offering? If it uses the same bracket as the 530, I might buy it sometime in the future.)

I saw that but was put off by some online reviews from people saying that the Phillips light had cut out after 45-50mins into the ride and the only way to solve this was to remove the batteries and re-insert.

didn't see those reports, sounds like a PITA, especially since you need an allen key to open up the unit i think.

i have the el530 same as tomasrojo, used it last year and is fine to be seen i think but doesn't set the world alight (!) when it comes to really dark roads

Well spotted tomasrojo, thanks 4 that.

I got a Hope Vision 1 off ebay and am reasonably happy with it but that Lezyne Super Drive looks great value for 99 squid!
