I think it's shocking that 80 year old Tony Broughan from Cabra hasnt missed a Dublin game in 72 years and can't get a ticket for Sunday. I think he should have been given a ticket for free from the GAA for all those years of loyalty and not having to resort to going to The Star and begging for a ticket. Shame on the GAA if he doesn't get one.

Really , did he get one ?? I'm delighted if he did but it's still a disgrace what he had to go through to get a ticket.

    Thanks Rochey.

And in reply to your question , I'm not off my head , just expressing an opinion on the allocation of tickets thats all.

A season ticket is E75 euro for the first 9 games of the year...Think that is cheaper than paying individually for games..C'mon the REAL fans rarely miss out on tickets..Only the fair weather fans who love a moan

We pay €130 for parnell passes , who's to say he can afford to hand that out in one go and can only afford to pay as he goes

Maybe if he save €3 a week from his pension he could well afford it.

I absolutely agree that the fairweather fans are the ones moaning and its so annoying. A lot of my family have got tickets today or tonight but didnt know whether they were definitely getting them or not. They dont have season tickets but attend the majority of games.

I don't know what scheme the Dublin County Board do with a Parnell Pass,But the GAA sold directly to the customer a season ticket for ALL counties INCLUDING Dublin for 75E

Now regardless my original objection was you said the GAA should of gave him a ticket..Thats just crazy

The Parnell Pass allows free entry to all games at Parnell Park as well as eligibility for championship matches.

I don't know why he's not part of any club or scheme but I just thought that after 72 years of attending matches the GAA would have some sort of loyalty scheme as I cant imagine theres many fans from any county that have attended for this many years so it would hardly break the bank for them.

    Sorry.

The GAA have a scheme it's called a season ticket,Sure how do they know he exists??
I wonder is he even a member of the GAA??
Does he deserve a ticket more than a fella who has been training a bunch of under 8's the last 40 years? Suppose he gets a ticket aswell - Sure it wont break the bank!! There are thousands of loyal servants of the GAA all over the world..More so than a fancy dress artist who i bet isnt even a member of the association..

I got so annoyed seeing loads of people who havent attended a match all season getting tickets to the final and true supporters having trouble. But I take your point on board as to why he's not a member of any club or doesnt have a season ticket , thinking about it now I cant understand why he's not so I apologise.

Although I have seen many club members left without tickets too.

Impossible to do something like that at this stage. How can you prove he was at every Dublin game in 72 years? I could just as easily claim to have been at every game in the last 40 years. I might not be 40 years of age, but I can still claim that and its not possible to prove.

Anyone can collect ticket stubs/programmes, so you can't go by that. and where do you draw the line.

What about ther person who attended all but one of the Dublin games for the last 72, who missed one because of a family funeral or a life saving opperation.

Its a sad story, but if he's been going to games the last 72 years, he's bound to know someone to get him a ticket, without having to go to a Rag "newspaper" to beg for one. Sorry :/
