Is the €195 gym membership for the academic year worth the price?

I was thinking about becoming a member of the sports complex in DCU this year. Is it worth the price if I'm not too serious about the gym and just want to do a bit of cardio, a bit of weights and mainly have something to do during the couple of 2 hour breaks I have between lectures a couple of days a week?

I was planning on leaving it a few weeks and then join for the remaining 6 months at the cheaper price. Though I might just go for the full year, I'd say it's worth it to be honest.

ur better off waiting for clubs and socs day and picking something like juggling, archery or fencing( anything physical) , its a one off payment of 5 euro (per club) and theres always a session on at any point of the week regardless of your timetable, you sound like someone who is serious about their study, a gym membership is really not worth it if you have long lecture hours, trust me a few of my mates signed up and waste their memberships

it works out at just under €8 a week given 2 12 week semesters + study weeks and all that... so about 25-26 weeks give or take....

so if you go twice a week it's only €4 a go... the gym has a decent set up so yeah it probably is worth it if you do go every week....

dunno what it's like if you want to do some really heavy work outs but if your just doing a normal workout it's pretty good :)

Clubs and socs are 4 euro.
Although most won't have much going on during regular afternoons. they try to schedule their events for evenings and Wednesday afternoons so people won't be in classes.

Do you mean the offer that its says is only for students on INTRA or Erasmus placements?

Do you have to get gym membership to use the pool?

Yeah. No pool only memberships or pay as you go. It's a load of arse tbh.

You dont need to be a gym member to swim with the swimming club though.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I've decided that I will become a member for the year. €195 is a steal compared to any gym nearer to where I live. :D

When is the earliest date that we can become a member? And the same for joining a club or society. I know there's a time-slot for Clubs & Socs to basically show themselves off during Orientation Week, but when do they start holding their own events?
