    Hey all,

I was just in my local bike shop looking around and saw a bike for €390

It was a Jupitor Utah 16 speed? Its had STI gears?

Does that seem like a good value? Are Jupitor good bikes? What are STI gears like, are the more expensive to get fixed?

Sorry for all the questions, but i'm fairly much a noob to bikes...

    Cheers in advance

I don't know anything about that bike but Halfords have their
Carrera TDF Limited Edition Road Bike for €327 down from €409 (when you click on reserve in the link) looks like good value:

Jupitor make cheap bikes, I'm not sure what the quality control is like since I've never owned one but I'd expect them to be slightly lower than with a more prestige brand.

STI stands for shimano total integration. This means the brakes are integrated with the shifting unit. STI gears are more expensive to replace if you total them in a crash than other ****ers but they don't usually require repair so I wouldn't worry about that.

390e seems like a decent price for a bike of that spec but you could probably get something nicer for similar money second hand and I wouldn't usually reccommend budget bikes like the utah.

I saw one of these bikes last week, going for €420, the frame looked like a trek one and all the gears where Shimano so how much could be different between this bike and an entry level trek...

besides weight, saddle and maybe brakes
