    Friday's matches

    Cork City - St. Patrick's Athletic 19:35
    Dundalk - Bohemians 19:45
    Shelbourne - Limerick FC 20:00
Wexford Youths - Mervue United 20:00

    Saturday's matches

    Salthill - Waterford 19:00
    Longford - Athlone 19:30

Huge match in Tolka, from which I'd take a draw, should be a good game! Missed the last two matches so can't wait for this.

    Come on Cork City!!!!

I actually hope we get beat this evening. Our thread bare squad does not need the hassle of any more cup matches. Promotion is the outright priority. A draw would be a nightmare altogether. Especially given the league cup final next week, and Monaghand and Waterford midweek games on the horizon as wel.

Can't see us getting much out of that game. MON will most likely rest a fair few as the legs will be getting tired now. Sligo will go all out.

Defenitely a second string squad for this. Can't see too many travelling to it.

We beat Dundalk fairly comfortably on Monday so think we should take them again. Though Oriel's ****ty pitch can always make a difference.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Hopefully we won't lose this weekend.

They want it more and we need less fixtures basically.

Well you got your wish, although to be fair I'm not too bothered by the loss. We had a few chances and didn't take them. This was the match I would have been 'happy enough' with a slender loss to be fair aswell. Saturdays game and Monaghan are the must win games.
Roll on Saturday - should be a good crowd and a great atmosphere!

Showed up and won, Cork tried for a bit. Think we could have scored if we wanted too.

    Semi Final defeat awaits...

If ye wanted too? We ran ye very close, one right off the line, off the post and 2 other good chances. Better team in second half.

Bets of luck in semi final though.

For some reason City played an under strength team tonight against St. Pats.

Took the bite out of the game when I heard our team read out.

    Nil fhuis agum.

Pats front 2 excellent again. That finish from Danny North was just class. Apart from those 2 and Rogers in goal City were more than a match for them.

Showed when Cummins and O'Neil came on that this team will be competitive next season IF they go up.

And if we can manage to hold on to the Duffer and a few more signings we could do some real damage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,292 ✭✭✭TangyZizzle

There was at least 6 yellow cards shown to the knifemen tonight. How many does it take until disciplinary action is taken against the club if at all?

    How did we lose?

On a side note, what a f*cking sh*tty away support from Limerick, say maybe about 40 of them, not great with guessing.

That much is evident :pac: It looked closer to 20.

Either way 20-40 for a promotion clash is a disgrace.

I was correct, it apparently prevents any sort of attempt to play football. Replay, joy.

Part One of Derry City's League treble accomplished last night at The Brandywell.

    Newstalk 'A' Championship
    Derry City 'A' 3:2 UCD 'A'
Derry went three nil up goals from Ruari Harkin, Mark Farren (sporting protective headwear) and McDaid. Two-time Champions UCD 'A' scored around 86' and 90' mins from Luke Fitzgibbon (?) and Darren Meenan.

    Att: 200+
    Programmes printed: nil

Part Two: EA Sports Cup, Cork City v. Derry City Sunday September 24th.
    (hopefully there'll be a Souvenir Matchday Magazine/Programme/Prospectus/Brochure)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 443 ✭✭Squelchy

    Replay, joy.

Could probably have done without the extra fixture, but happy to take that over being knocked out, obviously. And the extra gate is always welcome too, I suppose.

I can't go Tuesday though, which is p*ssing me off some.

Hopefully, our match in Dalymount on Monday was fairly entertaining I thought, both sides playing good stuff at times. Yesterdays match was abysmal.

Playing with one up front and playing hoofball doesn't help either

If you play five upfront, there's nothing much but hoofball possible on that surface..

Great atmosphere in the Showgrounds. Great result in the Showgrounds too.

Is that three years in a row we've knocked out 'the specialists'? :D

Edit: Think its only two actually..Three out of five though!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,757 ✭✭✭bohsboy

Good match, but Sligo well worth the victory. Could have been much, much more.

Sham had a call for a peno in injury time but was never going to happen. Sligo well up for it and it looks like the annual stumble for Sham is well underway. Will be an interesting end to the season. Sligo really beginning to peak.

Gwan Schligo, striking a blow for the provinces. Fatigue could ruin Rovers' season.

they looked wrecked and strangely non-interested. Absolutely no urgency until 92nd minute. Games are taking a big toll now/

Would be funny if Shamrock were to miss out on Europe next season and weren't to benefit from them boosting the co-efficient. :D

If they drop a place in the league..........

Strangely non interested? seriously? that's strange?

There were very few Rovers fans hoping we would get through last night. The FAI cup was one tournament too far and the UCD replay did us no favours. I'd have preferred they do us in the first game rather than the extra two that we've had to go through.

The games are taking their toll. Name me a squad in the LOI that could cope with all the matches between Champions League, Europa League, Premier Division and FAI cup? The CL is gone but it still left 3 competitions with another 5 difficult EL games. The FAI cup is a headache we could do without and personally I'm all too happy we went out last night. Great to see some of the fringe players given a run though.

Absolutely could well happen. The league isn't over yet and we've a hell of a fight on our hands to hold onto that trophy. We don't know how much damage the EL games will do to us yet in that respect but at least we are free from the cup. Other teams should benefit from our run just as we have this season from Pat's form!

Absolute tripe. Tell that to your hardcore that travelled down on a miserable Monday night to cheer their team on. There was no celebrations that they had been knocked out at the final whistle I can tell you.

Team is knackered. Even the fans look tired with all the travelling! :)

I was planning on travelling myself last night only a sick little baby put paid to those plans. I would have gone down no problem and cheered the team on as that's what we do. Were any of us really down after the game, no not really. Don't mean to burst the bubble for you but we have bigger fish to fry.

The team is knackered hence the rotation last night. The fans, we aren't tired more just getting broke pretty quickly from all the travelling. Still its a hell of a complaint isn't it bohsboy that we are tired from going to Copenhagen in the Champions League, all the way to Belgrade in the Europa League and now making the relatively short jump to London to play Spurs. If only we had this stress every year :)

That was not the way the team and MON looked as they trudged off the pitch - this is a team in crisis.

Crisis? They're in a crisis?? I have a seriously dislike for Shamrock Rovers but to say they're in a crisis is hilarious.
