Im looking for a new laptop just for general college work and watching things online. It has to be bought this weekend so my choice is pretty limited as I cant buy things online.
I have come across this laptop
    http://www.pcworld.ie/Product/ASUS-A53ESX330S-156andquot-Laptop-Red/306745/301
My budget is 500 so this is slightly more expensive but on paper it seems to be a lot better than other ones I found however I can find absolutely no reviews online about it which makes me a bit worried. so deos anyone have this laptop or know anything about it?

I think it's a good device as long as you dont want to play games. It's a good price too

Yeah, so take your time with this one. Pick it up and open and close the lid, and type a few lines on the keyboard. Just get a general feel of the computer. Asus is a budget brand and some models may be exclusive to PCWORLD, they may have a few pallets of these out the back!
Don't get caught up in any extended insurance plans which can almost double the cost of your laptop. They're plenty of discussions on boards as to the pros and cons of these schemes.

Ask about the standard warranty. Don't forget to register with Asus. Don't go off buying big fat anti virus packages like Norton or McAfee that weigh your laptop down. Do get a nice bag or backpack. a laptop tray for 12 euro (heatons and dunnes) will help keep the dust out of your fan (laptop on the lap is a bad idea!)

Try to get to pc world in the morning. That will give you the rest of the day to look at the sony centre (prices for sonys start at 539) They have a free two year warranty and really nice build quality. Specs probably wont be as good as the asus for that price. But you will have no problem selling a sony three years down the road.

That Asus have some budget product lines like the A series does mean they are a budget brand.

Indeed my Asus is built like a brick but runs like Mr.Bolt. Good brand IMO.
