I need to upgrade my brakes on my mtb. I have cable operated clarkes brakes, but would like something better. I have about 130 - 150 to spend, and would need front and rear. Any suggestions?

Shimano SLX Lenny, good value, tough and easy to bleed.

are the rotors included with those? if not he might need washers to get the right rotor clearance, i use these myself, pretty good brake but id spend the extra little bit and try and get these

After destroying an expensive Hope front disk in a rocky gully, I installed Magura HS33s: brilliant.

Rather then just getting a new disc? The HS33s are powerful brakes, but they still have most of the disadvantages of any rim-brake in mucky conditions.

SLX are a good choice if you're keeping cost under control.

For a budget set up you couldn't wrong with this offer - €115.00 Inc rotors! I had Juicy 3s in the past and they were great!
