Calories burnt

Which would you burn more calories - exercising really hard for say 15 minutes, or steady exercise for 30 mins.

At the moment the jog I go on, is uphill alot (I find this really difficult), however is alot shorter than the usual jog I do. therefore able to go alot further.

In which case would you burn more calories, or would they be pretty much the same?

depends tbh. If you do (proper!) interval training for 15 minutes and push to the limit it would burn more calories overall but 30 minutes of steady exercise could potentially burn a lot too but again depends on intensity i.e. big difference between running say 7K and sitting on a bike watching TV

Thanks corkcomp, I know what you mean it is very difficult to tell.

But roughly, would jogging 15 minutes uphill (really intense for me), be equivalent to 30 mins on flat? Put it this way am wrecked after the uphill jog, the 30 min jog not as bad :)

There's not really much info to go on there? How steep is the hill and what distance do you cover on both runs?

15 minutes running on flat ground could burn more/less or the same calories that a 30 min jog on flat ground would, it all depends on the distance covered. If you cover the same distance for both the 15min and 30min you burn roughly the same amount of calories but the 15min run would give your cv a better work out.

Depends on the distance but I'm guessing you cover a lot more in the 30 min run so that would burn more even if its not quite as tough
