I,ve come up with this winter tyre, Discoverer M+S 265/75 R16 116S studdable BSW.

    I have Bf,s on 245 70 R16.

    Any help would be great.

245s sound a bit small, if the bigger tyres are OK to fit, go for it. The 245s are around 30" dia, the 265s will be 32"

You may find a lot of places will sell 265/70R16 rather than 75 profile which will be a little smaller, seen many incorrectly fitted to Defenders.

The 245/70/16 was the standard tyre on the Isuszu TFS Pick up in 03, probably because the Denver was on the way, most of them were on alloys. and had side steps on them, and plastic wheel arch extensions.

The OEM tyre was a yokohama, and they were a good road tyre, never did much off road with them, but on road, they lasted reasonably well, and never gave me any anxious moments. I put a set of Federal on it at one stage, they were dreadful, didn't last any time at all, so when they came off, another set of Yokohamas went on, and they have lasted a lot longer.

I'm just about to replace them again, and while I've not had any issues in snow over the last 2 winters, I am wondering about the alternatives, I did wonder if some BF Goodrich AT winter tyres might be an option, I've won a set of rims on E-bay, so have the option to have a summer and winter set that can be changed over relatively easily and quickly.

Anyone got any comments good or bad about alternative tyres to the Yokohamas on the TFS, most of the work mine does is on road, albeit that some of those roads are poor quality.

    Thanks

Been investigating sizes over the last couple of days, as mine is also due new tyres sooner rather than later.

Mine has 245/70/16's, and I've been told that 245/75/16 are OK, there's not much difference there, but having looked under the front end on full lock, there's not a lot of clearance between the tyre and the front bumper mount, so don't go looking at anything too large, it may well foul on lock, and the TFS needs all the lock it can get most of the time to get into things like parking spaces.

There's a 2 inch difference in diameter with the size you found, which is going to be tight as they are also wider than the originals, and a 7% speedo difference from the 245's, and from my experience with the TFS, if you do go that route, be careful with speeds, the speedo is pretty close to correct on the 245's. so you may be at risk from the camera moneymaker vans with the larger size on, albeit that the mileage per litre may improve slightly.

The size calculator I used is here, hope it helps

    Hiya Lads,

I have a 2004 Disco 2 TD5. The stock tyre size is 255/65R16. I am looking for something with 'off road' bias, but am finding it difficult to get this size. Have been offered 265/70R16 and have been told that these will work fine on my existing wheel. Will the bigger size tyre work? Appreciate any comments you may have, thanks.

Try for 245/75R16 or 255/70R16, they are the biggest you can fit without arch trimming or suspension lift. 265s are too big without mods.

Thanks 101sean. I have found supplier for 245's. Going to have a look at the W/E.

Tyres being offered are 'Federal Couragia A/T'. Does anyone have any experience of them or know anything about them? Thanks.

Had a set of Federal on my TFS a few years back, there was nothing wrong with the grip, but they didn't last anything like as well as the Yokohama's that were on it from new, and the Yokohama's that replaced them have lasted as long as the originals did, so it wasn't that there was wear in the suspension, or that I'd changed driving style.

In 110,000 miles, I've had 2 sets of Yokohama's, the first were changed at just under 40K, the Federal's were gone by just under 70, and the second set of Yokohama's are due to be changed any time soon. The Federal's weren't much cheaper than the Yokohama's and given the significant difference in how long they lasted, I wasn't greatly impressed.

    Hope that helps

I had 7.50 r16 on my TFS 3.1 . Just come across a set of 8.25 r16 . Does anyone know if these will fit without modification?
    Thanks
