Definately top up on franziskaner.Just bought 6 of them a few mins ago for a tenner in o briens and I thought that was good but €1.25 a bottle is a steal for a quality beer. Cheers OP

Will have to try that stuff.

What would you liken it to?

    Paulaner or Erdinger?

Paulaner and Franziskaner are about the 2 best Weiss Beers currently available from the Supermarkets both on an equal par for quality.

Erdinger IMHO comes a close second to those 2 in taste.

Moretti is a nice beer but it doesn't seem too cheap there.

Tesco have a deal on where you can take three boxes of beer (12-15 bottles per box) for €20. You can pick from Becks (5%), Becks Vier (4%), Stella, that beer that's like bit corona (Brazillian I think)... few others.

At least some of the boxes contain 270ml bottles. Still a bargain though.

Was thinking of popping in to Tesco's at the weekend to stock up on their beer deals but I'll have to go to Lidl now because I cannot pass up Franziskaner at only€1.25 a bottle. An absolute bargain.

Oh ye, even better than the usual 33% off. Time to stock up.

Ah scheisse, was hoping there'd be a 6 Perlenbacher for €4.99 deal. Best beer deal going imo.

Superquinn are charging an unbelievable €2.90 for it. Even more expensive than my local off licence.

If you guys are near enough to the border, the Franziskaner is even cheaper again at 2 for £2.

    IE_2716wk38NI_01_s.jpg

They're also doing 6 Perlenbacher for £4.29. you can get Hoegaarden and Leffe at 4 for £4 as well.

I also though great value from Obriens for 6 for a tenner range but this price amazing.

Quality beet. Would liken it to Paulaner but a more stronger banana flavour off it. Very nice.

fransizkener is a nice cloudy beer, the local EuroSpar are charging €2.50 for one bottle.

@Chris85, it's no where near Paulaner in taste, Paulaner is a lovely beer too though. I have a "rule-of-4" with these German beers, more than 4 and it's a bad morning after :D

oh, BTW I will be there on Monday!

    Lidl @ Togher, Cork.

Just cleared the place of all the Singha they had, a miserable 21 bottles @ €1.29 each.
No more in store room according to the guy there, pity.
Picked up some Perlenbacher while I was there.

    Thanks to OP

    Speaking of Beer Fesivals

Read in the paper yesterday that there is an All-Ireland Craft Beerfest in the RDS shortly.

    Enjoy ;)

Just got 24 bottles of Leffe for €30, should keep me going a few days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,225 ✭✭✭Keith186

No fransizkener in Malahide road Lidl when I got there at 7 tonight.

There were one or two empty boxes of it outside on the ground so someone cleared the place out of it. No Leffe either :-(

Same style but yes very different taste. The Paulaner is great and the Fransizkaner is very different. very strong banana flavour off it. I like one or two but no more. Paulaner however i could drink more of it.

None in Blanch earlier. Ended up picking up a few four packs of Hoegarden.

Stopped by my local Lidl earlier & picked up some Franzikaner, absoultely gorgeous when chilled & at that price you really can't go wrong. Also got a 4 pack of Cobra for a fiver, though I have to say I never noticed it for sale there before (perfectly possible I missed it as I usually just make a beeline for the Perlenbacher when in that aisle), does anyone know how much they normally sell Cobra for there? Fiver seems like a decent price compared to other places but is it much off the normal Lidl price?

I've seen 12 bottles of Cobra in Tesco before several times for a tenner

Wow, that'd be a cracking deal. My local tesco does beer deals but I've only ever seen them on pish like Bud & Carlsberg. Their wine offers are pretty good though so not all bad.
