Why does it say invalid on an irish birth certificate?

You wont find it to easy but if you look hard enough you'll notce a rectangle shape (randomly placed) and inside the word INVALID.

    Can anyone explain why?

Security feature to prevent photocopying? That's the only reason i can think of.

It would be in the lightly shaded rectangle above, you wont see it on this image.

If you won't see it on that image, why post the image???

I've seen it on my own and a few of my friends are the same.

It would be no use copying it as it says INVALID on the original.

Does the word invalid show up more clearly on a photocopy?

The INVALID does come out a little clearer on the copy alright.

So I think I leave it at that, case closed, unless someone else has any other thoughts on it.

    Thanks
