Waxed Jacket

It doesn't look very warm, but it's long enough that a cardigan/jumper/loads of layers will sit well under it, and no matter how warm a coat you get, you'll be layering up this winter anyway. The main thing is that it looks like the wind wont go through it, which will fight half the battle of staying warm. I'd get it if I were you, it's lovely.

I wear a wax jacket a lot as I go horse riding (wore it to college the odd time too) and they're really warm and they last forever. As byhookorbycrook said, check out Holmestead or an equestrian store for a really good one.

Like the look of them but they are a major pain in the backside. They won't keep you warm the lining is usually quite light, OK for spring and Autumn that's it. You'll have to layer for winter and the problem with this is they aren't breathable so if your fairly active in it they can make you sweat quite bad. Wouldn't say they are very waterproof either OK for showers but not for long periods in the wet and then they can get awful heavy when wet. You'll have to rewax it about once a year if you want to keep it "waterproof" which is pretty messy. Last issue is the smell it's not so bad in cooler weather but they can pong if its warm, which may or may not bother you.

If you're up for something cheap that might not last too long Dunnes have some in in various colour atm and I have to say the black does look very expensive with a gold zip on it and some other tiny gold detailing and it also has a hood! It's for sale at 25 so I'd highly recommend checking that out.

Or also check out robinsons equestrian online, it's an english discount store very reliable and amazing prices!
