Workbridge and rent allowance

I'm starting an internship in two weeks and I am wondering if anyone can help me with the technicalities of it. I have a few questions

    1. How do I get paid, does the employer give you the social welfare plus 50e or do you have to go to a post office for the dole and the employer will give you 50?

    2. I am relocating to Galway from Cork so am I entitled to rent allowance? (this is pretty crucial as without it I will be working for a loss)

    3. Will I still be considered unemployed?

    4. Also if anyone has done one of these internships, did you consider it worthwhile?

*Mods, if this is in the wrong forum feel free to move it

My OH is doing it, but he's literally just signed on the dotted line so I can't answer your questions re money etc. You still have to sign on so I assume it'll be inc in your SW payment.
Also, my own company are doing the scheme and we've found a few really worthwhile people through it. I know if we have any way of keeping the decent ones on we will do:)

The JobBridge website is very helpful http://www.jobbridge.ie/default.aspx
but briefly, you will be paid by the Social Welfare and your present social welfare payment will be topped up by Euro 50. The site says the extra 50 Euro usually kicks in about the second week of the internship. The payment goes directly into your bank account so make sure the SW have your Bank Account number. You do not have to sign on every month - instead the organization you are interning with has to return a report giving your attendance hours etc., so that payment continues.

If you were already in receipt of Rent Supplement, you could still receive it while on a JobBridge internship but doing the internship does not give you any fastrack to Rent Supplement. The conditions for Rent Supplement would have to be met in the usual way, the main ones being that you have to be either renting for 6 months and have been able to afford the rent then and suffered a change of circumstances since or have been approved by the local authority as being in need of social housing. http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/supplementary_welfare_schemes/rent_supplement.html
