I guess a Passat with a 1.4L would make you even more sceptical!

LX is basic spec, but still comfy enough.

1.6 petrol is 110bhp which is low in absolute terms for a bi car, but has ti-vct which means it pulls well.

Underpowered and thirsty due to the Mondeo being too big and heavy for that engine. 1.6 litre became undesireable from 2008 onwards due to the diesels being cheaper to tax resulting in it being discontinued from 2009. LX is also basic spec which is nothing to write home about.

I had a brand new one of these for a couple of weeks in 2008, very comfortable car to drive, decent enough spec for a base model, compared to other other manufacturers or simular. Huge boot also.

However,, the 1.6 engine just doesn't have the get up and go to carry such a big lump of a car. Heavy on the juice also.

In saying that I was driving the mondeo as a hire car while my previous Passat 1.9 TDI was in getting crash repairs done, so I surpose I was it was a real let down for me on power and economy.
