At present I am getting only €124 a week from social welfare,
As I have a family, a morguage, a car, a wife, a dog, a CU loan and every other bill known to man I am desperately looking for work.

I have just got the chance to do some delivery work (off the books) for 14 hours a week at €4.28 an hour.

That means a very helpful €60 extra a week.

But my fear is that the social will cut the €124 if they find out.

If they do I will lose everything including my life...

    What should I do

Unfortunately nobody can advise you on this - it really is down to your own judgement , yes that money would no doubt be very handy but by working ' on the black ' ( it IS black and not grey btw ) you are committing a fraud and possibly jeopardising future benefits.

    It really is your decision.....

Depending on the day of the week or hours, you can keep all or some of your social welfare.

For example, working on Sunday does not count so you can keep Sunday earnings with out any social welfare deductions.

I'm not sure how it works for the other days, where you may only work 2 hours or something, but ask them at the social welfare office. They do accommodate part-time workers.

EDIT: I guess off the books means off the books! :p I guess can't tell the social you are getting this 4.28 / hour!

If you tell them you might also have to pay a PRSI contribution? Not sure on this though. To be realistic, for that amount of money and hours I wouldn't bother telling them. The work might not even last.

If it was me I would do for it but it all depends where u live. If you live in a small town and the job is there also then you've a bigger chance of getting caught.
