Alternative Wedding Reception

    Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has had a wedding reception in Dublin or close to Dublin that's had an alternative dinner menu to the usual 3/4 course set menu? I'm looking for something a bit different like a bbq or pig on a spit. A lot of the venues will only let you use their caterers. I'd really appreciate any help at all!

    Thanks a mill.

I djed a wedding in Taylors hall in city centre and they had a pig on a spit for food in a lovely outside area. Also the rotunda pillar room lets you organise your own caterers

TBH, venues make their money off the food so its not enticing for them to allow you to bring your own. However if you approach a venue that doesnt do its own food, you may have the upper hand. Try some sports clubs or look into hiring a marquee

I remember a thread in the food section on pig on a spit not too long ago. search the boards for pig on a spit and youll get several hits with companies listed that do them. If you get on to them, they may have venues where theyve worked before and know will allow this type of thing.

Beaufield Mews in Stillorgan have a lovely venue that's a bit different and do bbq, pig on a spit and a picnic menu as well:
