    Hi lads,
Didnt know where to post this. I'm half thinking of studying law at night and i was wondering if there are any law students on here who could tell me what books would be worth looking at which are on the syllabus so that i could see what kind of level is involved?
Sorry mods if this has to be moved...

    Cheers,
    Eoin

Law at night? I'm pretty sure the laws are still the during the day as at night!

Unless everyone has been holding out on me and i've been missing out on all the late night fun?

Probably better off asking this in the Legal Discussion forum or one of the college forums tbh.

Anyway, it depends on what you want to study law for. The two professional bodies in Ireland are the Law Society and the Kings Inns, and both have slightly different syllabi in terms of what areas of law are examined and the focus of the exam questions. In university there is usually a much broader range of areas that students can choose to study. Also, since each area of law tends to be very broad, university lecturers usually pick sub-topics to study each year instead of trying to cover everything, and this varies from year to year.

So there is no one syllabus, it depends on what you want to do. I'm studying for FE1s (Law Society) right now and the syllabus for those exams, including recommended reading, can be found here (PDF). But keep in mind that law books are usually monstrously expensive and buying one is not recommended unless you're absolutely sure you'll need it.

    Hey OP.
    Legal discussion forum is here:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=633
But the relevant university forum may also be a good place to ask.
