Looking for a recommendation for a USB DVB-S2 capable of getting HD freesat channels but must be compatible with Windows 7 WMC and possibly XBMC or MythTV.

Would like to get set up to install on my little Asus Eeebox nettop PC.

    Any affordable ideas?

    Ticks the boxes
Up to you to decide the "affordable" bit.

I see this is more of a Tuner card/box will that mean it needs power or is it running off the USB connection? - is there any USB sticks that do the same?

Also I wonder if my WMC remote will be able to control these?

It connects by usb, yes it needs external power as will any satellite receiver.

looks nice, i'm also looking for a USB solution, but it doesn't have to be a stick, can be a box or something like that

I am using the TBS 5980 USB Qbox. It is a freesat viewing card with CI slot. Not only can receive most of the freesat channels in a perfect SD and HD quality. also can be used to watch Pay TV. until now I am very satisfied this card. I bought from BuyDVB. less than £100. I recommend it.

to be absolutely sure that the s2 reciever is compatible with linux I'd go for one listed on the linuxtv wiki

I am using this DVB S2 card running within MCE. It also seems to be working with Linux as their reference. but I am not quite sure.

I have UK Sky TV decoding automatically with TBS 5980.The CAM that I use is the NDSCAM. Absolutely TBS' software is very good at the deception. please Note that decryption of Sky channels requires a legitimate subscription card & there is no question of piracy here..

i think it should be: a smartcard/ pay tv card --> into a CAM module --> into the CAM slot of this box

found it there, listed as TBS Qbox DVB-S2 CI USB2.0
