Looking at doing this for the summer a few of us looking at renting a camper van and driving across Europe visiting Poland and Ukraine for the European Championships.

Has anyone ever done anything like this? Any info on renting the campervan and of sites where we could say?

Any help would be much appreciated!!

    Thanks!:)

We rented a campervan for Italia 90. It costs . . . I mean really costs, petrol, insurance, mileage . . . lucky we had a mechanic with us who was able to adjust mileage . . . you might be better off bringing a caravan instead.

If you hire a campervan here then the insurance probably won't cover you driving into the continent. Might be better to fly to France/Netherlands and hire one there. Even with that, insurance costs for going outside the EU (into the Ukraine) may make it very expensive.

Option might be to buy one here, use it, then sell it on when you get back.

There's a campervan forum on here where you might get more info.

Seems like a campervan is going to be very expensive. I have read about a place in London which has a market for campervans so that could be something to look into otherwise I might price the train, either way I don't expect to be able to do it super cheap.

Will check out the campervan thread cheers!

Am thinking of doing the same with a few mates. Went to france for world cup in 2007 for 2 weeks but the logistics of this would be much more difficult.

Priced a 5 berth camper with http://www.motorhomesworldwide.com/ and was quoted €1700 for 2 weeks collecting from berlin and dropping back there which was decent enough.

Travelling from Berlin to the Polish cities of warsaw gdansk and Poznan doesnt look too difficult( 5 hour drive) but Ukraine is a long trek of over 20 hours with most of the venue 7-10 hours drive apart.

We still have to beat Estonia in order to qualify which wont be easy but being based in Poland for the group stages would be ideal if we qualified.

Can anyone tell me what the insurance costs would be like for a trip like this?

Interrail would be better I would say. No worries about accidents, drink driving, parking, etc.
