Proof of no criminal record needed

    Hi,

Not sure I'm posting in the right place, but here seems as good as I've seen after a while of searching and looking around.
Anyways.. I am starting a new job soon, in Switzerland, and I need to prove I have no criminal record to obtain an airport airside access pass.
I have been into my local Garda station and they gave me a form to send to the Garda Vetting Unit in Thurles, which I have done, but I have just been looking at the web site for that unit, and it states that what I have applied for is not proof of no criminal record.
I am in a bit of limbo at the moment as I have just moved house at home, so I have no internet or phone yet, and I am currently away in Holland on a course for a month.
I'm not going to need this pass for a month or so, but if anyone has any suggestions or advice as I don't want to be waiting a month for something that either doesn't turn up in time or is not what my new employer is looking for.
    Thanks in advance

There is a document which the Gardai issue called a 'Certificate of Good Character' or 'Police Certificate' which is essentially what you're looking for. It's typically required when someone is applying for an immigrant visa for places like Australia etc. or for the purposes of foreign adoption.

However the Citizens Information website says that the Gardai will not issue one for the purposes of obtaining employment.....
