iTunes is getting rid of all my music & apps!

    Hi everyone

Every time I enter my iTunes, my library is wiped out: all the music that has been downloaded (& paid for), along with all the apps for my phone, have disappeared & my library appears empty. Very scary stuff. I wonder if anyone has experienced this & if I can retrieve the music & apps?

PS my laptop is a Sony, not an Apple - a friend suggested this might be a factor..?

    Thanks for reading :)

Is this on your Laptop or iPhone? My recommendation would be to reinstall iTunes.

Your content will still be on the laptop somewhere, as far as I am aware iTunes does not delete stuff without your say so.

First thing I would do is check the path to which iTunes is pointing to see where it thinks your content is...I think on a Windows machine its under Edit>Preferences>Advanced.

Follow this path and see if thats where your content is. If its not there you might just need to change the pathname to where your content is actually stored.
(if this is the case and you point it to the new folder, it will ask if you want to "keep files organised" as per iTunes. It will then rebuild your library. It will do a scan of all your files etc. It is not copying or moving anything)

If the pathname and folder are all correct, my second guess would be that your library.xml files (i think thats what they are called) may be corrupted.

You can reset these easy enough following the instructions here:
