Heya, I had a read of the stickies but theres a few things I wasn't sure of.
Figured I'd get a faster response if I just posted.

I'm 22 and just finished college, I'm renting an apartment and I work part time in retail, but I'm on an 8 hour a week contract, sometimes I get more hours, but sometimes I get just the 8.

What are my entitlements? I hear people saying sign on for the x's and o's but is there a proper name for that? Any info'd be great lads! cheers

    Yeah, its called "Casual Jobseekers"

If you're just out of college you most likely won't get jobseekers benefit, so call into your local office asap and make a claim for Casual Jobseekers Allowance.

The max you will get is €144 and you'll be deducted a certain amount for each day you work.

    Hope that helps.

You could also check your entitlements for Rent Allowance and a medical card.
