DIY SSD upgrade to Dell XPS 15 - possible?

    Hi there,
I'm looking into buying a new laptop and am interested in Dell XPS - either 15 or 15z, but want a solid state drive for software and a separate hard drive. I was told by a Dell guy that XPS 15 doesn't come with ssd, but that 15z is upgrade with it. However, when you go through order process the ssd is the only hard-drive, at 256GB. I'm not into computers generally, but want this for fairly mixed usage for work/home - music/photo editing/office applications/bit of CAD/bit of graphics, not gaming. I've had 2 Dell laptops before and am getting it through work. Am not tied to using Dell, so any alternative good lightweight non notebook spec suggestion also appreciated.

Can any one recommend whether I should go for the XPS 15 and try to get someone to add an ssd afterwards (and go through the rigmarole of copying across software)? or go for the XPS 15z and add an extra hard drive? Anyone with experience of either of these two models - will I have to lose e.g. the DVD drive to fit in new hard drive? or how easy is it to go wrong?!
My ideal solution is to buy a laptop with ssd and about 650+GB in additional hard drive ready made, good to go, software installed, etc. However, if that's not easily available, can anyone suggest how best to go about it. Based in Galway.

    Thanks a million
And also - who does this kind of work? Am in Galway.
