    Hey, I was wondering if you apply for the SAF do you have to wait ages for your application to be accepted or is it done there and then?

    I just need money for like 4 weeks because i'm stuck waiting for my Maintenance Grant and i'm totally dependant on that.. and my father can't afford to give me money as he's paying back a loan he took out to pay my accomodation!

    Will they be able to help straight away or could I be waiting weeks/months?

    In WIT it was given out at the midterm in semester 1 and 2, so arounf halloween and easter time. Other colleges might be different though.
    Go down to the office that handles the SAF for a form and ask about the waiting time and what other help there is. In WIT the chaplain gave out small amounts of cash if you were stuck for food or whatever, I think they did small loans aswell not sure what the deal with paying that back is though.
    I'm sure theres something like that set up in all colleges just ask :)

    Every college has different ways of administering it

    It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
