I would presume the op is driving?

Also, from the starbucks website it appears that liffey valley is the nearest starbucks to NUIM.

It would be for the Caramel Macchietto, they only sell them in Starbucks, I wouldnt be stopping everyday just for that. Most of the time I will be getting O'Briens

Can't understand the deal with coffee. Some stink off it. Thank god I don't drink tea or coffee. Tap water and cans of Druids are my drinks of choice :D

They look and sound more like desserts than coffees, how people get a jump start from that mess in a cup is beyond me.

One of my friends goes to Queens in Belfast, and she was told by some of her housemates that the location of a Starbucks across the road from the college was one of the main reasons they chose to go there.

When I have these its not for a jump start.

I think my plan of stopping at Liffey Valley was thrown out the window, along with the disgusting coffee they gave me. The stuff they gave me was horrible and only luke warm. I nearly got sick when I tasted it, wont be going to that starbucks ever again!

You'll be glad to know that there are places to buy coffee in Maynooth. Crazy I know but they do exist. In fact I'm struggling to think of places that don't do coffee...Xtravision maybe? :pac:

I know, I actually like the coffee from OBriens on campus, I just really liked starbucks, but the only one on the way to maynooth (liffey valley) is disgusting.

Better and cheaper places than O'briens, try twist, at least it's made with a little bit of love. I detest O'Briens. I dread the twice yearly visit when I'm invigilating in JH and I've forgotten my lunch and I've no time to go down town and I have to get a sambo there. Then I think, oh, I know what'll make it edible, toast it please! And the girl says, "that'll be an extra 50c". And then I kill them all :)

And wake up in a cold sweat...

Do they actually charge to have it toasted???

I wouldn't murder them all if they didn't now would I?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,338 ✭✭✭squishykins

Yeah Twist is quite nice :) The Coffee Mill is nice too, there's really loads of places in Maynooth to go, but I would suggest investing in a thermal flask :P It's no Starbucks but it's bloody cheap!

ah, its right next to the rip in the fabric of space and time that brings you back to when video rental stores where viable businesses.

I never noticed it in there.

Most of xtravision's stores still turn a profit. The figures were there when they entered examinership. No idea about the one in Maynooth though. Or how it's still possible for them to be profitable.

The Mill Wine Cellar serves really nice coffee. You could always try there.

The Costa coffee shop upstairs in the Phoenix is quite aptly named. Went to Chill instead:D

Yeah they're unreal expensive!! Aw I want to look around the Pheonix now :D

Hard to bate the hot chocolate in Chill; I'm assuming the coffee is also nice :p

Oh yes! Vanilla Lattes ftw. The Phoenix is laaavly, but so very swanky that its a bit surreal going into it - its hard to believe its on campus:P

People usually pretend not to hear me when I say this and continue going on about anywhere else. Ah well, it being only 1 euro makes it taste all the better to me :p

I remember the first few weeks of first year and I got some dry pasta and other lumpy food the odd time. Then it burned down so I made my own food instead. Good times

Oh man, the O'Briens coffe tasted like liquidised **** the one and only time I had it. Nope, Londis or Bewley's for me, thanks.

O'Briens is pretty bad (maybe not liquidised **** though:P). Bewleys and Chill are the nicest:) Costa is a bit too pricey for my budget:P

Its a canteen.... there I said it.
the old Canteen food was decent at best, not super, not out of this world, not incredible, sometimes edible, not worth writing home about, but decent.

Its to cater to a general student market, namely cheap food and if I'm not mistaken, the food in the new canteen is cheaper then the old one.

The hot chocolate from the machine in the arts block is one of the reasons I decided to stay in Maynooth another year; it's like drinking an orgasm.

Bewleys in the Arts block! Especially when the younger girl with the red hair is working. Not because I'm a dirty pervert, but because she's good at making coffee.

My friend was working with a guy who thought that only he got called "hun" by the Scottish girl who works in O'Briens in Hume. He said to my friend, "I reckon I'm well in there." My friend informed him that she calls everyone that!:p

One of the main reasons I hate going that place, she gives me the willies

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,625 ✭✭✭How so Joe

    I think she's quite nice.

My favourite thing is seeing the bagel factory ladies in other places around the village since the bagel factory shut down. I've seen them working in O'Neill's, in Greene's Deli and in the Café BonBon. I'm keeping a tally of them, and eventually I'll get them back in the bagel factory. F3ck abra and that sh1te!

Get them back in the bagel factory is code for "I'd love to roide em all" is it? :pac:
