I found one of these balls last sunday and decided to hit it on a par 3 hole with an approach over water, didnt want to lose my bridgestone.
Anyway I was surprised how it stopped dead, maybe 6inches from my pitch mark. Thinking it was a fluke I used the ball to finish my round, off the tee I got great distance as much if not more than the bridgestone e6. Lovely feel of the ball bouncing off the face. With every green I hit after, the ball reacted the same way, no bouncing and rolling but stopping more or less to where it was pitched. Now I've been on line and it seems they don't manufacture these balls anymore.
If anyone plays these balls or have any experience of them would be interesting to know.

Used to play with these way back,i'm fairly sure i only stopped playing them when the original pro-v came out. but like you say the control with them was exceptional, theres still a few of them in my practice ball bag, they must be 15years old!

Strata were a superb ball ,probably the best on the market until Callaway took them over in 2003 and stopped making them .
They were very hard wearing ,had a lovely soft feel and good for spin.
It was a travesty they were taken off the market and replaced with Callaways sub standard balls.

I saw some new Strata's in a golf store recently and was excited but they were only Strata in name, looked and felt more like a Top-Flite (former parent company).

Yes a very nice ball, and even for mid handicappers their spin control was excellent, I remember when the stopped being available i moved to Maxfly Revolution (red dot i think) which had the same feel. Not sure if they are gone too.

Funny as i am using the e6 now aswell

Thanks for the replies guys(so there are a few war horses out there:)).
As GG said great spin control for even mid H/C players. Im playing for my handicap at the moment (hopefully hit early 20's )and the control I had with that ball was staggering, first time to experience so much spin. I've been playing with distance balls mainly but started using the E6 the past couple of weeks and loved it, especially the feel off my driver, awesome, but they don't compare to the way the strata spun on the greens. As mentioned its a complete travesty they are not made anymore. This may sound silly but I feel lucky to have played one and will always remember the way it felt.
Anyway I lost it the next day in the drink:)

As MisterAnarchy says, they might only be TopFlite.

Could we not start a campaign: BRING BACK THE STRATA!!!!
