    Hi All,

I recently came across this site and wanted to share. It seems a relatively new site and quite a novel idea. I'm sure that those needing to travel on low budgets might find it useful now and then. Although it hasn't got much exposure in Ireland yet.

    Its called:
    crashpadder.com

    have a nice day.

Is this just a more expensive couchsurfer website or are the "hosts" not staying the accomadation?

Couchsurfing website!. Ok, this is new to me as well. I must get out more!.

So I have looked at the Couchsurfing one and it seems that it is totally free.

Clearly the Crashpadder is of a more commercial nature as charges apply to all stays and the Couchsurfer seems to be more for like minded people to get together without any financial gains on either part.

To be fair, it looks a bit like a service for hosts to play at being a B&B. Was looking at the Dublin locations and while I have no doubt you'd be as comfortable as you'd like to be, paying over €50 a night for a spare bedroom in someone's house in a housing estate doesn't appeal. For a couple of quid more you can stay in a budget hotel and have all the freedom that entails or at least be in a proper B&B.

Great idea, obviously trying to create a market between Couchsurfing and the budget hotel sector, but I can't imagine ever using it.
