In my house I have a solar cylinder and the controller is located outside the press. So I can instantly see the temperature of the water (so I know if I can go for a shower or not). I would like to install a similar system in my folks house. So I'm looking for a thermocouple, approx 2 metres of cable and a battery operated…

Danfoss wp 75 has a facility that tells you how much water is in the tank. But unlike a solar display it will not give you an upper and lower cylinder temperature display.
