i know a car hobby is fine for most people but i just spent far to much money. kinda disaponted in myself at the moment. i just bought way to many and spent far to much time on donedeal and other websites.

What's the question then? Do you have an alternative? If not, get cracking on the selling or accept that you will continue to be broke.

In the current economic climate, if you sell the cars, you will probably lose a shed load of dosh compared to the amount of dosh you have invested in your hobby.

Unfortunately, you don't seem to have much choice. If you need the money, then you have no option but to sell.

I know it is hard, but it is only a hobby after all. I am sure you need the money for something more important than your hobby.

On a side note, for your own sanity, you may find a new cheap hobby to replace the old one.

Visualise each car, each item as one specific bill.
Each time you start slipping into missing your car reinforce your decision with the image of that bill being reduced / cleared.

Nothing wrong with a hobby unless it is ruining your life...

I understand your problem, being a certified gear head too. What I would do is resign myself to the fact that I can't buy another single car no matter how much of a bargain it is or how unique or clean or whatever.

I'm assuming you probably haven't got anything in your collection that wouldn't be repaceable in the future. Pick one at a time. Start with the one you mind parting with the least. Take whatever you think would be a fair price for it and put it up for sale at 80% of that number. Take a swallow and let it go. What you paid for it and what you're losing on it is not important at this stage. Events are overtaking you and you just need to extricate yourself from the situation. Then take the next one and repeat until you have a big pile of fifties and an empty driveway.

I understand the stress associated with selling things like vehicles. I've just reduced my ...errr... fleet to one car and one bike! My next vehicle will be my 20th!! But it gets to the stage where they own you instead of vice versa. I've just parted with an old beemer project that I was losing my b******s on and I've sold a mint bike. It was a bitter pill to swallow but I knew it just had to be done.

Once you're finished reducing the fleet... NO MORE DONE DEAL!!! :D

thanks for the advice guys. i have decided to stop the spending allready and visiting ebay websites so its just a matter of selling one and nayby keeping the other cars. i figure the damage is allready done at this stage so ill just keep some of the cars i bought and leave it at that.
