Anyone got any recommendations for a reliable diesel car for around the 2200 mark?

Buy a 90 bhp TDI with somewhat reasonable mileage (Golf, Bora, Leon, Toledo, Octavia).

Keep it serviced after that and you'll knock plenty of life out of it.

What have you got against OP? he asked for a reliable diesel.

OP, stick with the 1.9 Tdi in either 90 or 110bhp output from VAG and you'll not go far wrong.
It's found in lots of models, I reckon you'll get best reliability and value from a Skoda version but I'm biased.:D
