Can't. No one of importance any more and Ryan is a bloody idiot.

Anything political it is all FF are great, no questions over the economic downturn, but everyone else, Gilmore - his Official SF days, Adams - his brother and Kenny - can't remember, but no doubt something else like that.

Every year for the first LLS of the season there is always great guests, this year the only one worth seeing was Sinead and he decided to try and look like he was doing the Frontline with his Q&A regarding religion in school, that is not what the LLS is about, that's why we are stuck with Pat on Mondays!!!!

They upped their game with Dunphy had his own show
If Dunphy got a top guest RTÉ would go all out to upstage them and were able to do it

The producers seem to be very comfortable and lazy

RTÉ are like Bus Éireann, don't bother trying until they have competition

nope, its safe tv for the older generations, nothing too topical or no raising of questions, just all safe, prerehearsed questions where the interviewee has probably had a look at whats going to be asked. the difference between someone like Tubridy and say, Johnathan Ross or Conan O'Brien, actual talk show hosts with personality and wit is absolutely staggering.

Conan O'Brien used to write The Simpsons, Tubridy is related to someone so he got his own talk show, the mind boggles.

Watched it for the first time in over a year just to take part in the LLS thread. It really is a steaming pile of sh*te that the thread just barely about justifies watching it. There was no redeeming parts to the show whatsoever. A better interviewer would have made Ronnie Whelan and Sue Johnson appear interesting as I really like them.

Tubridy seemed to have half an eye on the clock as he was up early for his other gig across the pond. I don't understand how RTE can so willingly let him do this. I reckon they secretly hope he gets a BBC contract...one less financial burden.

If the BBC wanted Tubridy then he'd be gone in a second. Perhaps the BBC has enough real talent to choose from and don't need one the RTE/Pravda golden circle. How did his stint in the UK work out? He's just another RTE lifer who really was unsuitable for the Late Late Show.

    Regards...jmcc

I moved abroad 2 and a half years ago. I always watched the LLS at home if I wasnt going out, so I kept up the habit when I came over. It was the only Irish TV I watched, so was a nice reminder of home, but after a few weeks I couldn't be bothered anymore. As someone else said, the boards thread while watching it made up for it for a while but in the end I just gave up on it. There is much better things to be doing of an evening.

People used to call Pat Kenny the plank, but seriously, Tubridy is thinner and more wooden.

Kenny's main problem was he couldn't really do the whole celeb glitz and showbiz stuff which goes hand in hand with the the Late late. Tubridy just cant do television it seems. He seems ok on the radio, but on TV he cannot interview people. He just talks across them the whole time. And god help us if there are 2 people he is trying to interview at the same time. He can't multi task, so focuses on one.

Here is an example of the inability to multi-task:

Scroll to about 5:40 where Jon Kenny has been talking for nearly 5 minutes exclusively and Pat Shortt brings him up on it.
