    1. Make a list of timber required
    2. Get contact details for timber merchants in your area or who are willing to deliver to your area.
    3. Send them list of timber for quoatations
    4. Compare prices
    5. Order timber

munster area, also they are building a house with a few wings, so a lot of timber will be needed, it is just that they were speaking to me yesterday and they were saying that they will have to price around, as the prices some places are still huge, i was hoping to get hints and tips on this, i would say they will be starting on roof in a few months, and as it is one of the pricier aspects of a build, they are hoping to get it at a reasonable rate.
i told them that i would be doing this on boards, as i feel people country wide would have a good handle on things in their own area, and i am reaching a broader community

Not Sure where in Munster you are but these were over a grand cheaper than any quote i got when roofing a house that i'm renovating.

They'll give their best price and that's it, no haggling. They delivered to Ballylanders in Limerick for me.

    <SNIP>

    hope this helps

that is a fabelous saving, i will let them know, they are a young couple starting out, they are doing alot of the work themselves, summer evenings after work, saturdays and some sundays, are trying to save up and go on without looking for loan, they started their house about eighteen months ago, and they are nearly at roof stage now, any saving they can make, hopefully will keep them away from bank manager for a while anyway

They are actually very good, but you should follow on-thread direction and PM the details to the OP. Please read the forum charter before posting again, or at least read all of a thread before contributing to it, thank you.

Oops! didn't see your post or know that you can't post details like that on here. Was only trying to help and i have no connection to the company.

As a matter of interest why can't you post details like that?

    thanks

Allowing companies to be named etc., allows for free advertising. If that were the case we would be overrun with posts about this company and that company, while the main point and content of a thread gets lost and left unanswered.

We have a very good, clean, straightforward no nonsense forum here on Construction and Planning. That's why we have a strict charter and we wont allow it to be messed with. If any poster wants to advertise a company please contact http://www.adverts.ie/ who will be happy to talk to any poster about advirtising.

So, you can always PM contact and company details direct to any poster, thereby not upsetting any thread.

Just to add to what PUT said. We try to keep the forum free from people who would use and abuse it by promoting themselves, their business or their products. The public who post their queries here wont get impartial advice from someone who has a vested interest so with that in mind we promote independent advice by ensuring that business and product names are kept to a minimum.

Advice, opinions, answers etc posted in this forum are from regulars who are independent and have nothing to gain except a little sense of fulfillment by helping others.
