Is it too much to ask that when you watch a RWC highlights programme that the scores in each match are actually shown. Was watching the Scotland v Romania match and suddenly the scoreboard changed, wasn't sure if I'd just stroked off for a minute and missed something.

Then the panel discussing Johnny Wilkonsons nighmare performance?? I only saw him miss one penalty. Come on!

He missed a lot more then that. Actually watching something before commenting on it is a good idea

And how many of the missed Argentinian kicks were shown?

I've just replayed the RTE highlights and they only show one missed kick btw

ITV highlights programme showed extended coverage of both England (which was quite a turgid match despite a close finish) and Scotland but very little of matches involving France and Fiji not even showing all the tries from these games which were both free flowing with plenty of excelent tries so maybe RTE wasn't too bad after all.

So you want the socres and the missed scores, sure they could end up showing all the games then.

Loved the bit about Jenno tonight.

Thought Schmidt was really pushing himself in his pronunciation of "Ireland" :P

Yep, every score, every missed score, every incident of note and anything they might talk about afterward. So that's all 4 games in full in an hour and a half? Easy!

I understand what you are saying about the timeframe but it wouldn't happen if it was the soccer world cup. It's not like RTE had a jam packed Saturday evening- they could still fit in an hour of greyhound racing and the Sinn Fein Ard Fheis ;)

I'm pretty sure that Sinn Fein are big enough after the next election that RTE have to show the Sinn Fein Ard Fheis if they want to show any Ard Fheis under the whole treating big parties equally crap

OR as per MOTD etc, why not show extended highlights of games that might be of more interest to Irish viewers then a quick snippet at the end on the likes of Fiji v Namibia

The one you were complaining about was the one of less interest to most people, hence there was shorter highlights I guess.

I.e they are doing nearly exactly what you are suggesting but you are complaining about it:confused:

the cartoon segments are silly, although Popey seems to like them

The thing is, the missed kicks were a big part of the story of the game. Perhaps a bit of creativity in maybe showing a short montage of the misses might have been useful.

The thing is when MOTD or Premier Soccer Saturday do an equivalent match it's squeezed into a minute and a half or two minutes tops.

More of the likes of Fiji, Namibia, Canada and Tonga for me, and less of the Englands and Argentinas - I get to see the latter in grinding battles 7 or 8 times a year every year already. And Nambia and Canada once every 4 years.

So if another hilarious Wilko miss has to be sacrified so I can see some different teams in the World Cup then so be it.

(Tough for RTE to please everyone isn't it?)

If you want in depth Rugby World Cup coverage, RTE is not the place to go.
