If only fuji had a semi-decent camera, or at the very least one that didn't LOOK like complete crap :-)
I keep on meaning to get one of those 210s and jimmy it into an instax back for my bronica.

I really don't mind how the camera looks, as long as it does what I want it to. I think we worry too much about appearances these days, but I know some people really love the blocky shape of the Instax wide film cameras. Also it seems more than possible that Fujifilm will eventually produce some really good cameras when they see the demand is there. I have wondered if they would come up with an adaptor which would allow owners of the old Polaroid 600 types and the SX70 cameras to use Instax. I have the 500AF and think it's a pretty useful camera. I like the 200 and 210 as well. There are lots of good pics on Flickr using these cameras, some in a very creative way, and mini cameras have a huge fan base worldwide. Ireland is one of the few countries where interest in instant film is minimal. But since we usually copy world trends here eventually, no doubt the profile of Instax will rise here before too long.

No incentive for them to do it, particularly since their deal with polaroid. An adapter probably wouldn't be physically possible, but fuji could re-tool one of their instax lines to produce 600 type film if they wanted (not withstanding technological differances like instax being exposed through the back), but they probably don't see sufficient return on it.
The impossible project will remain an overpriced boutique product for a while and then fizzle out, particularly if they never manage to produce a halfway decent product.
Instax was always more popular in asia than the US and europe, in part because fuji didn't sell it in the US because of some agreement with polaroid. There was an infamous polaroid lawsuit that scuppered kodaks instant camera line, and the first fuji instant film types were based on the kodak technology so it's possible they feared a similar suit against them or something.

I suppose time will tell, Daire. Do you know anyone who has used the Polaroid 300, which I believe is the same as the mini Instax camera 7S? I see there are loads of accessories available for it on E-bay.
