    hi

im looking finally to purchase a laptop as its becoming a pain to have to go to my parent house anytime i want to use the net(we have an old pc there)

I seen this in the paper and was wondering are either any good(i was looking at the ones for 429+449). My sister has a toshiba one.

I would be using it for my music, some tv and a bit for college(lst year of part time)

I went into pcworld and they were offering the Hp student back for 499-he mentioned it didnt have an intel processor so would be slower.

I have to buy in a store as somebody else will be paying for it.

    Any help would be appreciated

I have sold a few of the c660 toshiba laptops. The casing is quite light and cheap. I don't think I would be bothered in spending over €400 on one, even if it is an i3. I think tesco had a celeron version for €320 which, is absolutely perfect for what you want. When I sold one a few months ago the feedback I got was excellent. I skype with the chap that bought it quite reguarly and there's no problem with him surfing the internet and opening documents at the same time. It's also quite light. The only complaint he had was that he was trying to run some "football manager" game on it and it was crashing out and sometimes a bit "jittery".

As far as the HP is concerned, the only advice I have heard on them so far is to stay away from them. HP used to be a great machine back in the day however, the build quality and reliability has gone right down and only a couple of weeks ago it's been reported that HP are leaving the computer manufacturing market. If you buy a HP you might have problems with either support or getting rid of it n a couple of years.

My own personal laptop (this month!) is a Hp DV6 i5 which looks great and has all bells and whistles but if i so much as attempted to do anything i5-ish the the temp jumps right up to over 100 degrees!

I have a liking for the Lenovos. That's the company that bought IBM's computer manufacturing wing. I have sold four of them in the last two months and I think they're built like a volkswagon!

    Good luck with your shopping.

I think if memory serves me right, I had 2gb rqm, 250gb drive and Intel Celeron processor . Ho hum spec but not bad for the price. I usually pay £220 wholesale for that spec. By the time you convert to euro and add some vat, its close enough to what Tesco are charging. All in all its not a bad deal.

the c660 in tesco for 329 has 2G ram and 250G hard drive and has a e350 dual core fusion amd chip, dose all the normal stuff but i'd think the e350 is better than the celeron
