Can a sole trader offset a portion of their residental rent when calculating their tax liability? tax would be paid at the lower rate. What percentage can be offset? do i just need proof of rent (lodgement slips) or is any additional info required from the landlord?

It's a relief given to all taxpayers - so yes.
