There are two BHP outputs - 95 and 120. Does anyone know if there's a significant difference in power, insurance and fuel consumption? It would regularly have a payload of 800kg

    Thanks in advance.

The 95hp is dead even with no load. Neither are nippy

    They're fond of diesel too.

Isn't there a D4D version as well? 2.4litre? Or am I wrong in saying that?

Edit: Don't mind me, thinking of the old series and petrol versions for some reason.

    For 800kg get the 120.

    Hosanna in the Hiace.

    Thanks for your replies.

The following van is for sale http://vans.autotrader.co.uk/stock-item-id/at8ab0b11b31b3e0040131bece41ea0142/advert

It's the particular model I'm looking for which is not readily available.

One of the pictures jogged my memory that this van was sold at auction in Manchester in July. The auction description said one stamp in the service book. I queried this with the current seller and they provided copies of all of the service dates which are as follows:

    9/3/09 @11765 miles,
    25/6/09@22971 miles
    14/11/09@33089 miles
    4/3/10 @42285 miles
    26/4/10@50796 miles
    16/07/10 @61026
    16/11/10 @70600

The first four services were done a couple of thousand miles late. The servicing garage has emailed a screenshot of the digital service record.

It was registered by a main agent in Cumbria as a demonstrator in September 2008 and sold on in January 2009. It was then serviced by a main dealer in Yorkshire up to 50k miles and then In 'n' Out for the last two. It was then sold by auction to the current seller, a van centre in Scotland.

I'm concerned that it's "been around" alot for a three year old van, the servicing being late and the contradictory service history from the auction house and current seller, as mentioned above.

In consideration of the afore-mentioned, would you buy this van?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is but can is the only one I can find.

You'd be crazy not to consider this:

    http://www.carzone.ie/search/Hyundai/H-1-Van/2.5-CRDI/201133203956782/advert?channel=CARS

It has the twin sliding doors
It has the twin rear doors
    has ESP
    has small miles
    is in ireland
    has warranty
    has 50hp extra
    is better on diesel
    isn't a pikeymobile
    has a great reputation
    has bluetooth
    is already ply lined
is a zillion times better to drive.

Agreed but they haven't the durability of a Hiace , there are known faults with Hyundai gearboxes, it's not as long as the Hiace LWb and doesn't have a proper middle seat.

The current Hiace doesn't share the engine or gearbox of the 90s one that gave it the good name though.

I have a 01 Hiace with 305000 miles on it, its overdue a service and a timing belt. I do about 140 miles a day during the week and about 220 at the weekend and it gives me no trouble. Heavy on fuel and eats front left tires but I never have to worry about it starting or going long distance. I drove it in -17 temp last winter with the thermostat gone and started first time every time, it ran a little lumpy for a couple of minutes because the diesel was freezing but was fine.
Anyway, its good basic dependable mechanical engineering. Hiace = Warhorse
