Volunteering with Aware and Counselling

Was thinking of doing a bit of volunteer work with aware for the online group support and/or email support service . Was wondering would this be a good way to help me decide if i want to get into counselling ? If not does anyone here have any idea of volunteer work that i could do that would help me make a decision on this…
