As boxing fans who do ye think are the best body boxers of all time. It is often said that the head can take way more abuse than the body, and anyone who has been the receiver of a well placed shot to the "sweet spot" will surely agree.

Mike McCallum & JC Chavez are renowned for their bodywork, who else makes top of the list??

Modern days Ricky Hatton was a great body puncher, as is Manny Pacquioa.

That lad Rigondeux who beat casey had wicked body shots.

Rush Boxing club and Rush Martial Arts head coach.

I am not sure the head can take way more abuse. Usually, a good heavy head shot will KO most fighters. Sometimes it may take rds of body shots to wear and slow down a fighter. The head shots show the affects that bit more clearly. At times it's difficult to tell if a fighter is being hurt to the body.

If a fighter's body is in great nick then it can really take a lot to break it down. The head, well, great nick or not, a couple of real
    thumpers can end the fight.

Anyway, JCC, McCallum, Hearns, SRL, Joe Frazier, Wilfredo Gomez, Barry McGuigan all come to mind when thinking of good body punchers.

Jorge Arce is a very good body puncher, his left hook to the body has broke down many a fighter.

Micky Ward was renowned for his left hook to the body, it really was a heavy, heavy shot.

Benn too was wicked to the body. Gerald McClellan was another. Julian Jackson.

Also, Katsidis could whack to the body. His bout with Guerrerro, he threw some dynamite body shots.

In order or quality, not quantity..
    McGuigan
    Hatton
    Barrera
    Frazier

...but Hatton/Frazier found the sweet spot more times.

He threw an odd low sweet hook, sure, but Tyson was a headhunter.
He wasn't a methodical body puncher...a la kill the body and the head will fall.
He took a shot at the body when it was free....but then he woulda taken a pot shot anywhere :-)

Miguel Cotto's left hook to the body is deadly and has stopped many a fighter, most recently Yuri Foreman

Mike Tyson and Joe Frazier in HW's for me, stand out as 2 outstanding body punchers.

Having said that, body punching isn't essential for some fighters. Ali almost exclusively hit solely to the head.
