I have an existing 3 bay slatted house with a 30 foot creep area behind it. The dimensions are circa 45 foot x 35 foot. I did not need planning permission to build this. I am now wondering if I am to extend this by the same dimensions (double the existing structure) would I need to get planning permission

Are you certain you didnt need planning for the existing shed?, If its in the back of the beyonds or well hidden I would be of the opinion of shoveling away, unfortunately due to my location I need planning permission for any erection

It might depend on how long its there. Your existing building looks like it's small enough to be exempted development, but it depends on whether they see your proposal as a single development, or whether they put the two together.

I suspect you will need planning - best to go in and talk to a planner in your county.

I attach the official guidelines, but your situation does not seem to be covered in it.

My understanding of planning for sheds is, if it is bolted together , it can be classified as a temporary structure and therefore doesn't need planning.

OP it's a tricky one, if you go into the coco planning office asking them they are more than likely going to tell you that you need pp.

Try find out what the exemption area limit is, it is something like 300m2, but I could be wrong. If as somebody else says you are way out rural, you might be lucky, but it will eventually show up on satellite imagery, especially if they overlap a new image with an older one:cool:

Have a good look on LC's link for starters and try find a similiar one for your county. I tried reading my local one and to be honest a lot was lost in translation from Irish!!

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.
