My vision is grand most of the time but can be a little hard to see lights, signs etc. when driving and writing on a screen if i'm far back.

I've never worn glasses and was wondering do you need to have a history of wearing them or could you just get surgery straight away?

As someone who had -6.00 glasses, I can't really sympathise ;)

Do you know what your prescription is? You might just need glasses the odd time, for driving and stuff.

Laser eye surgery is not a guaranteed thing although it keeps getting better. There is surgery available to improve your vision for performance reasons (although I think that's nuts!). So the answer to your question is probably no - you don't need a history of wearing them.

You also have to think about this in the long term. When you are over 45 (assuming you aren't already) a lot of 20/20 people get to wear reading glasses.

Will just bump this up. Never had a prescription taken. Considering it now a bit more as finding night driving quite difficult

you'll need at least 2 years of prescription history before you'll be accepted for laser surgery AFAIK. They need to be sure your eyes are "stable"
