Hey, I have an appt with the US Embassy for 9am next week. If I get a train from Cork at 5am I would arrive at 8:10am. How long would a taxi take getting from Heuston to Ballsbridge at that time? Would I be better off staying overnight instead?

50 minutes is plenty of time, even at that hour of the morning.

    Maybe 10-15 mins.

You could avoid sitting in traffic on the quays by getting the Luas as far as the Abbey St stop. Then get a taxi to Ballsbridge. There is a taxi rank beside the Luas stop so you won't have a hard time finding a taxi.
