Been doing a search for studios - cant believe how many studios have a hammond organ or a rhodes and everything in between but dont have an upright piano. Im looking budget to mid priced studios. But really whats important is just a good playable upright with good action.

    Anybody have any good experiences?

We're prepared to travel! (Im guessing we'll have to be!)

I believe there's an upright in Sun Studios in Temple Bar. Not certain on it's playability however - you'd have to ring up or visit them I guess!

You could look into doing a location recording in a decent classical venue....for example book out a room in the concert hall or something similar with whatever piano you want and do the recording there. I've got great results doing this and to be honest most recording studios i've had experience of tend to focus on rock music, thus even if a piano is available they are not typically in great condition....ie out of tune, damaged fingerboards /pedals etc.... It all really depends on what you're looking to record also..if its just piano and nothing else this can work....if its piano in combination with a rock band then forget it..Hope this helps.
