    Folks..
Just today received new laptop today running Win7
All good but having some minor problems..

Have both Explorer 8 and Firefox 6.0.2
Some websites, including boards, will not load..
Watching it is hanging at "Transferring data from b-static.net...."

I'm presuming it's a security setting, I've shut down the firwall, updated Java but no difference...

This is annoying me as my old Laptop running XP and firefox 3.x.x is fine

    Any help would be good...

Have you ran a virus scan on your machine. I reakon its a rogue bit of software what is acting as a proxy or has affected your hosts file. Clear your browser cache and flush your dns cache also. Run a virus scan also.

Let us know how that goes there a few other things it could be but try them first.

    OK
    This is really bugging me...
    It hangs while accessing "www.boards.ie"
But it works fine on "http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/index.php"

I've tweaked any security settings I'm confident with but no change...

Could it be a DNS issue, maybe you configured the XP machine to use alternate DNS serviers at some stage? go into Network and Sharing centre in control panel>Adapter settings>right click network adapter>proerties>TCP/IP v 4 settings, use the following for primary/secondary DNS 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4, see if it makes a difference, can't really see any other reason for it. What security software are you running?

Hi OP, not sure if you've sorted out this problem yet but here's what I did to sort it out on my win 7.

I updated all network drivers, ethernet & wireless then after that installed an update to my router firmware. Solved the problem for me so hopefully it might work for you too.
