Someone from the socialist workers party was on the radio one day there not my political cup tea at all but in the interest of fairness I made a big effort to try and understand and not be judgemental, anyway the discussion was about water charges. The woman said and I kid you not ' what about all the people in Ireland with swimming pools!!!! ' private swimming pools in Ireland are probably as rare as hens teeth. I gave up after that.

I hope I don't get like my mother, she use to shout at the TV when Ian Paisley was on.

Sorry OP I can't really go into too much detail in this post as I just got outta my pool. I'll be back on in a minute, just gotta go feed the hens - Bastards better not bite me again, you might not think it but they have massive teeth.

I know two people who have swimming pools at their houses. Also out of boredom looked up luxury homes on daft once and nearly all of them came with their own swimming pools. Unlike the warm countries in Ireland nearly everyone who has a swimming pool at home will have an indoors one... there are loads of homes in just the Dublin area that have swimming pools just because you don't see them doesn't mean they don't exist....

You do realise you don't have to make a thread on every mundane thought that comes into your head?

OP doesn't get left wingers. Weren't you the one giving out about the student protestors? Evil socialists, all they want is equality, hates them :(

Years ago in college we were given weekly talks about discrimination and one week we had 'members of the travelling community' as our guest speakers. After 15 minutes of positive things about traveller culture, complaining about social services and downplaying the criminality aspect of their culture I got up off my seat and walked out.

I try to be open minded about boring threads but my mind, like the threads themselves, generally end up being closed.

Three houses in this estate (that I know of) have pools. At a recent party I was iinvited to take along my shorts and stuff. Hardly uncommon.

While there are private swimming pools in Ireland they are a minor problem in the water charges debate, but the woman keep repeating a mantra that she had obviously learned off by heart and by god she was going to stick to it.

I was an active member of the irish anti apartheid movement in my youth and am still a member of Amnesty International and take part in their letter writing campaigns but I have to admit to having little tolerance for travellers generally.
yes i have met with a few decent ones and i dont do a blanket comdemnation but i do know what i see with my own eyes and generally they fit their unfortunate stereotype.

in all fairness the SWP would complain about anybody having anything , they want everyone to be equal , but equal at the levels of lower middle class, Ive tried to be open minded too, but any group who just begrudges people for doing well or running a successful business while some lazy layabout sits on the dole and says they should be equal , its just madness and idiocy at its highest

I have worked as a Special Needs Assistant, worked in Nursing Homes, worked in Residential Care settings, Drug&Alcohol Treatment centres etc and not once, ever, had any negative feelings against these service users. 2 days spent with Pavee Point changed me from a 'right-on dude' to the cynical bastard that I am today. What can I say...my experiences with the majority of travellers has led to my negative opinions on them.

I sat down one night to watch "I love you Philip Morris", well informed of the gheyness to follow. I lasted about 30 mins before rubbing one out turning it off. It was just too much gay.

I'm sorry gays, I tried! (That said, I thought the Birdcage was classic )

I try to be open minded whenever a 'friend of Jesus' calls at my door. I try to turn the other cheek, I try to think 'what would Jesus do'. Sometimes I even think of having a frank and open debate with them. But I always end up slamming the door within a minute.
