Steinhart / Zeno Watch

Two very different watch types. The first looks identical to the Rolex Sub is it a homage? Nice looking watch for sure.

The second has a nice movement and a nice dress Chrono. It really depends on what your looking from your watch. One is a diving watch but looks good in any situation and the second is a nice dress Chrono.

Don't know much about either brand, but really like your choices.

Not a Homage, independent brand, well known as great watchmakers

Looking for a Black Diver - they also do a GMT -70 extra but figuring out whether to go with a Pepsi or not

Am gonna Go with the Steinhart

    Cheers

They have one which looks like the new Deep Sea Dweller too.

Quite different prices too. The Zeno watch on your link seems quite thick at 15.5mm for the diameter (40.5mm)

However on this site which looks identical in the photos it's ref number is 9557TVDD A-SV as opposed to A-1. Anyway there it says it is 42mm diameter and 13mm thick, which seems like much nicer proportions for an automatic chronograph.

Not being smart but for an independent company the watch below is as close a copy of the Rolex sea dweller as you'll find! They have the star logo on the hour hand as on a Rolex, the same style text inside the bezel as the DSD?
They call it a modern interpretation of a classic design...
Don't get me wrong they have some lovely watches but to me it's an homage.
Just my 0.2 cents... again not criticizing anyone's choices of watch :o

    Wow

Never noticed this, but not a Rolex Fan so never looked at them in detail

They seem very popular on TZ

They are pretty much a homage of the rolex brand, with a few of their own designs in there too.

The are popular on TZ for good reason. They are well made and hold their value quite well. People who sit on the fence in deciding wether a Rolex Sub is for them, buy them to see how they get on with the style, size etc.

I wouldn't have any issues in buying from Steinheart. They are a well respected watch brand from Germany with a range of styles to suit most people and budgets.

They have some nice divers and aviators. The lume on the Triton is incredible.

I just noticed that Steinhart do a chronograph that looks very like the Zeno watch OP linked to in the first post.

I like the blue hands, sort of reminds me of another watch that I want, one day..

LOL. At least they make both homage and original. :D

    see...

I didn't notice them as homages as didn't really know about the Rolex

But are they much different to other Divers like the Seiko Tuna or Marine Master or Black Samurai?

Are Seiko's just a homage to Rolex ? or give the dates established are Rolex homage to Seiko (Seiko 1881 - Rolex 1905)

    Bought one anyway :)

Ultimately most of the watch companies including Omega, Tag Heuer, Breitling etc have produced a watch which is very similar to the Rolex Sub. I'm just amazed Rolex did not protect their patents better. I cannot see how Rolex would be out of pocket, ultimately these watches are aimed at a different Market.

I just had a conversation with my wife, seemingly she's been reading my thought on steinharts and is going to buy me a surprise watch present :-)

Are these only available on line or is there a store in Ireland selling these?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,263 ✭✭✭✭Eoin

Nice! I really like them too Mrs MiCr0 if you're reading this. Just saying.

Unless someone has one to sell

I have one, would sell it for a good price, mines a Rolex version of the Sub though and would be a bit more expensive than the Steinhart edition, although there is really little or no difference between them, its hardly worth the extra !!!
