    Hi,

I live near Longford town and currently receive the analogue versions of RTE1, RTE2, TV3, TG4, ITV, BBC1, BBC2 and CH4 using 2 tv aerials mounted on the roof.

Should it be possible to pick up Freeview channels using the current aerial set up and a "Freeview HD" box?

You should certainly get the Saorview channels, don't know about Freeview. Freeview HD equipment will display Saorview programs but detail differences in specs may hinder full compatibility when more features are added.

You're probably receiving the UK analogue channels from the Brougher Mountain transmitter (UHF channels 22, 25, 28, 32) & Freeview from there is very low powered relative to the analogue broadcasts.

There will be no Freeview HD broadcast from NI until after switchover, which seems to be at least a year away & all the other channels will increase in power at this time, although at Brougher only the 3 public service multiplexes (includes all current HD) will get a significant boost to match current analogue coverage.

Freeview channels from Brougher Mountain coming in perfectly in North Longford (Moyne area).
