Took this fellow last Friday in California.

Whilst tracking a larger boar who had given me the slip I saw this one at 300 yards. As he was moving away from me I decided to take the shot - first at an animal at this distance.

My 308 is sighted in for 2" high at 100 yards, supposedly putting me dead on at 200 and 10" low at 300.

I aimed about 10 inches high and dropped him on the spot with one shot.

When I got to him it turned out that the bullet had hit the spine in the neck.

He's skinned out and at the butchers. Although not large (230 lbs) he might be the only one I get, so I'm having the head mounted.

I shot the pig in Northern California - about 45 minutes from Chico (2-3 hours north of San Francisco).

I am in Phoenix - way too hot to hunt anything but scorpions at the moment here! If I was you brother, I'd stay put!
